A Drop of Fun
Many of the photos you’ll see are in front of a black or white backdrop. Which is fair, because they are simple and versatile, putting focus on the subjects. But sometimes it’s great to have a fun background to make the photo stand out and help tell a story. Here are six featured as we get into the 2025 season! Each is available for any studio session throughout the year.
A red backdrop can bring fire to your photos, and you will absolutely grab people’s attention. Studio 701 has a 53” roll ideal for individual portraits.
Yellow is universally perceived as a fun color. While not everyone likes to wear it, putting them in front of this color will convey this mood. Studio 701 has a 53” roll ideal for individual portraits.
Headshots are typically very simple portraits that put a strong focus on the subject’s face. Simple black, white, and gray backgrounds are standard and may even be a requirement for corporate photos. But if you want to really make headshots stand out and keep a neutral toned background, a subtle patterned backdrop like this dappled gray can make the whole photo more interesting. Studio 701 has a 5×7’ cloth backdrop ideally sized for headshots.
Cyan backdrops are fairly rare as a backdrop color. But cyan is opposite to red, which is commonly found to some degree in skin tones. Make your portraits pop, with a calmer color than red and yellow if that’s not what you’re going for. Studio 701 has a 53” roll ideal for individual portraits.
Lavender is a very uncommon backdrop color. But as an iconic color of springtime, consider it for spring fashion and florals. Studio 701 has a 53” roll ideal for individual portraits.
Brick walls are absolutely overused as photo backdrops. But for those who enjoy bright colors or would like to celebrate their Pride, a brick wall splattered with color may be perfect. Studio 701 has a 5×7’ cloth backdrop.
