Open since 2023 in downtown Lynchburg, studio 701 is Lynchburg’s only fully equipped photography studio. Our thoughtfully designed location is ideal for photographers of all types to capture important moments and create impressive art. We have a variety of equipment that will be at your fingertips, including lighting. Bring your creative mind and see your visions come to life in a comfortable environment
The studio hosts educational workshops for all types of artistic mediums, including film photography and cyanotpye printing. Scheduled themed events and movie screenings welcome photographers, videographers, and models alike to meet and foster collaboration with their peers in the community.
At Studio 701, our mission is to enable photographers to reach their full artistic potential by providing a welcoming space and the valuable resources needed to do so. We are passionate about helping our community through exploration and experimentation.

Our Studio Floor
Studio 701 resides in one of Historic 5th Street’s oldest brick buildings, built in 1907 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We have a spacious main floor with two dedicated shooting stations. Wall to wall each station is 16’ deep, with backdrops 9’ and 12’ wide. Our larger station includes a huge mirror wall behind the photographer so that your clients can see themselves. We also have large front windows that get good light most of the day, which we can open up if you would like to use any natural light. Overhead smart lights can be controlled with voice commands and set to any brightness or color. Our bathroom is spacious and well-lit, perfect for wardrobe changes and makeup touch-up, in addition to the obvious.

We a green building at the corner of 5th Street and Harrison Street, a block down from the roundabout. Behind our building is a small parking lot, and where guests may enter through our rear door. The front door on 5th st is wheelchair accessible. Studio 701’s business hours fall outside the downtown 1- or 2-hour parking limit.
